Re: Caprice engine swap?
Maybe that's the magic number for that type of car (solid non-SS B-Body).kevm14 wrote:Gone.Bob wrote:Down to $2500: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/5850693918.html
Re: Caprice engine swap?
Maybe, but it had 238k. I wonder what he took.

I emailed and I texted. No response. I could try calling.Adam wrote:You should ask if they can send a pic of the SPID.

I mean I'm sure it was her late husband's car and she just came out to Maine from Colorado to live with one of her kids, so probably too soon. As they say...Sorry my mother inlaw has decided not to sell car at this time

95 RMS, 127k, no landau, $2,350
http://southcoast.craigslist.org/cto/5864290307.html
96 RMS Limited, 111k, $2,400
http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/5894273379.html
Both local options, halfway decent looking. Curious about rust. Pricing does seem to have gone up a little. My perspective has shifted - I'd rather have a decent one than something crappy under $2k. Cheap and awesome is obviously the best, which is possible when affordable mechanical work or TLC is required.

Really clean 93 RMS, 83k, "garage kept" (and it looks it), $3,000
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/cto/5903378685.html
The big pros with this one are it looks exceedingly clean, should be reliable for about as long as I choose to drive it on the stock L05 + 4L60, and it is a 93 so I am that much closer to being emissions except (may actually be 2017).
Other than the engine, trans and ECM, there is no particular compatibility with my Caprice, over a 94-96. This one is kind of intriguing. I could probably do with a lot better pictures.

Clean 96 RMS, 57k, $6,500

A classic CL-antithesis ads. See what I mean:

This is almost Jalopnik quality. $6,500 is a lot but it looks really nice in the few pics. I should e-mail him and ask what his bottom line is.Attention Students: The good news. This car seats 6 adults. Trunk will hold all your gear. Mileage this morning is 57,000 miles. This car will take you to spring break on either coast. This vehicle will increase in value with proper care.
The bad news. This car needs 2 parking spaces and will not fit in a fast food drive thru. The dash does not make phone calls or tell you when to turn. Your blind spot is still blind and the only camera is in your pocket. If the tires need air, it will be obvious. A compass is for boy scouts.
I have listed this vehicle several times on this site. I'm starting to lose confidence in CL. I guess all the dealers have the advantage. Large selection, 100 point pre-delivery inspection, on site banks and good looking salesmen. Well, this car is still available. It won't need a jump to get it running and the engine hasn't been spayed with glossy silicone. Give it some thought. I promise, I won't ask you how much you want to spend, don't ask me what my bottom line is.
