1,600 miles into this oil change (on GTX HM 5W-30) I added 1.25 qt and it probably needed 1.5. The only thing I own that doesn't use oil is the CTS-V.

Went to start the truck to go to the transfer station yesterday. The starter engaged alright but began slowing down very quickly and in fact barely started. But it did start. I'm like....well wtf?

I did my trash run, got gas (with it idling) and drove home. After parking, I threw my Battery Tender on it. I need to check what mode it is on this morning but I'm not sure if the battery was just getting slowly run down from my weekly trash trips or if there is a draw.

Kind of funny given all the hysteria about LS6 oil consumption back in the day.

I just checked. Done charging.

This battery is only 3 years old and is a Bosch with a 3 year full replacement warranty. 96 month pro-rated warranty. About as good as battery warranties get.

I wonder if my trailer brake controller could be drawing. It is designed to be always connected and there is no off switch. The display goes to sleep after a while so I assume that's working properly.

Two pretty local caps. If I really want a cap, I should probably buy one of these.

Better looking, more cost, but still reasonable.

Crappier but cheaper.

I was leaning toward the crappy one but for another $100 (or less) I could have a halfway decent looking one.

I grabbed the better one. Offered $150 and he took it. It took a year but this is about what I was looking for, including the bump up for taller loads. It also has a ladder rack. It came with 6 clamps and keys for the lock. He helped me put it on. He was in the middle of replacing the transmission on his Volvo V70 T5 and even ran to a NH junkyard this morning, for the wrong transmission. We also talked about trucks a bit and I remarked that the Ranger was a very simple truck that gave me few problems and complained about the transmission in my Ram. He said, yeah they are easy to work on, but you're working on them all the time. Or something. He had a 3rd gen (next body style from mine). And a 2000 Ranger that the frame rotted out of.

It does look like it was white and was painted black. Note to self: no pressure washing...

Oh let's take a look at what stickers I inherited. They are all correct.

Guns (this is from Killam in East Windsor, not far from where I grew up - Killam sells caps, not guns, despite the name)

40.5" min height from bed to hatch when open. Inside nearly 44". I wonder how tall my lawn tractor and snow blower are...

This is like 8" more height than the Ranger.

Glad you went with the nicer cap. Looks good. Not sure you really want to participate in the BLM feud. Maybe get a sticker that says All lives matter...

Took the roof racks off, leaving just the small mount. No tools required. I don't think I will use these much but it is nice to have them for that occasional long....ladder. Or like a 16 foot board or something.
