Z/28: Z is for "Zap!".
Oh really...How do I unlearn that?

This is great... So many quotes. 1985 0-50 in 5.1 seconds. The 80's were so bad for performance, the benchmark was changed from 0-60 to 0 to 50?

Looking at the 1968 Z/28 ad, it's amazing how much performance they kept adding to the platform in so little time.
You could order a 4.88 rear! Sheesh.
I also like that the ad admits the dual stripes have no mechanical function, but "great psychological value.". Awesome.

Also, in two years, they went from "fat" tires on 14x6 wheels to 15x7 wheels. Progress. Hey, that's what my 93 Caprice came with stock.

Maybe they were just trying to obey the 55 MPH limit

What bothers me about this video is that the story is still the same. I'm a Ford man who loves GM's. I'm kind of bothered that the story is EXACTLY the same today. Fords 2015 mustang is a bit squirrely and not exactly easy to get around a corner (even with it's new IRS) and Chevy's camaro is a more poised and efficient track car. It makes me feel like we've been getting the same shit for 40 yrs.

Yes, except the new "shit" has over 400 HP for the standard V8 and can manage over 20 mpg on the highway. Not to mention ABS, air bags, and other safety-related items.
