Caprice passed emissions

Post by kevm14 »

On the first try, no less. With very little sweating of details. I did replace the cap and rotor recently as documented in my misfire thread.

There is some significance to this test. First, it successfully ran on the dyno. This car hadn't run on the dyno since 2009. I did put new over the axle pipes in recently but I don't think they were rusted when I had issues in 2011 or 2013 (maybe 2013?). Second, it's quite clean. At least it is for what it is.

A thread for reference: http://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-prom ... issue.html

2009 dyno results @ 254k miles
HC GPM 1.71 / 2.25
CO GPM 13.91 / 23.74
NOx GPM 1.39 / 3.25
CO2 GPM 577.86

2015 dyno results @ 292k miles
HC GPM 0.37 / 2.25
CO GPM 4.25 / 23.74
NOx GPM 0.42 / 3.25
CO2 GPM 215.80

Go figure.

I always said if I could just figure out the issue with the car not running on the dyno test, it would do fine. I dunno what changed, but, it did fine. More than fine. These are actually a lot better than 2009. Possibly the cleanest it's ever been.
