Check out the grinding, terminal understeer on the J-bodies.
Also, they didn't even have the word "SUV" to describe the new S-10 Blazer. I'd argue, based on no research, that the word SUV and the desire of the average American family to have an SUV came about in the 1st gen Explorer timeframe (1990).

Cadillac switched to all EFI in 1983. Except the HT4100 was so bad that they had to go back to the Olds 307 in the Fleetwood Brougham. I think a Buick 4.1L V6 (also carbureted) was also available at some point in desperation.

The Delco BOSE in the 83 Eldorado and Seville was a first for the auto industry, I believe.

Youtube comment award:
I haven't heard so many tires squealing so badly while going so slow since.....well.....the 80s.
Runner-up award (referring to the S-10 Blazer segment):
Did that truck/station wagon thing ever catch on?

I had the S-10 Jimmy. Slowest vehicle I think I ever drove.

Obviously that wasn't a 4.3. All of the 4.3L S-10 based trucks drove well. Vehicles such as an S-10 2wd were even fairly quick and could do impressive smoke shows.

It was the 2.8 V6. I had 4 wheel drive but the shift was on the floor, and I had to go in reverse about 10 ft. for it to engage. Wouldn't recommend that vehicle to anyone.

A friend of mine in high school had a 2WD one with the 4.3L and a 5-speed. It went through tires for some reason...
