Repair-It

Great write up. From the looks of this, buying am otherwise working "4G LTE" with a shattered screen is a low risk option. Though it seems that that approach is like 80% of thecost of a whole working phone.

Think of all the spare parts we would have for it though!

Bought another one off eBay with a cracked screen. Will arrive later this week. Should be an exciting swap-over, stay tuned for pics.

So I bought another one off eBay with a cracked screen.

This is about where we left off. There are three ribbon connectors attaching to the board. First remove the tape. Then flip the white connector up.
First two. Third one. Pop the vibrator thing out. From there you can remove the last two screws at the top and flip up the main board. You can then remove the antenna cable. Then pop out the large connector on the bottom. Out.

Take the other phone apart the same way. To mix things up, I swapped red kickstand from the black phone over to the white/silver phone. Four Philips screws on the inside of the metal frame. Fancy. How does this go back together again? Reassembly is reverse of dis-assembly. Functional! Also bad positioning on the flash. Fancy colors! So the moral of the story is in order to have a functional HTC EVO 4G LTE first buy one, use it for a month, buy another one, swap some bits, then hopefully you can use it for more than one more month. Time will tell.

Nope. It lasted for 3 days. Because it was dropped in the toilet. By the owner (not me). I'm all done with this.

I blame Android. Ed told me he likes to death grip his phone. Perhaps because Android and/or Samsung's touch panel require lots of repeated stabbing and swiping to get anything done?

Time for Windows Phone!

The EVO 4G LTE actually fit in the hand really well. The part that you hold is metal rather than cheap Samsung plastic.

Yeah I guess I blame Samsung mostly. James' glossy Lumia is too slippery, also. Which is why I'd select a matte color.
