Oh boy, I wonder what might be on this list.

But in the car world, the family station wagon was on its way out with many foreign and domestic manufacturers withdrawing their longroof models or not renewing them, as Eddie Bauer Ford Explorer ownership was becoming mandated by homeowners association regulations. As a result, there were plenty of station wagons that had very short production runs, while others simply vanished despite being popular for a time.

Of course my dad had this exact car from 1998 until, I dunno, 2003?

I liked it. Seemed smoother and quieter than my Caprice. It would cruise effortlessly at 100, provided you didn't require the L03 to hill climb.

He makes fun of the Mercury Tracer but fails to realize that these cars (and the Escort of the era) were on the same platform as the Mazda Protege. So....not Ford. Which explains their reliability.

Now as for the Eagle Summit...

Where can I spot one today? Old Lyme, Conn. That's where we saw one of these last, back in 2006.
