Longer oil filter for the CTS-V

When I did my last oil change on the CTS-V, I was reminded that the stock filter, which crosses to an M1-107, looks like it could be about 1-1/2" longer and still be even with the oil pan. Extra filtration media and slightly more oil capacity? Sounds perfect. But does it exist?
Apparently yes. I could run the M1-206 which is a longer version of the M1-107. Swell. And I shall. In a year when I next change the oil. If I remember.

I've used the longer filters from a couple of different brands without issues - I just look up the part number for the Northstar motors
Wait, what?
So I looked up my SRX...guess what. M1-206. Hooray. And M1-201 for the Caprice (also non-stock, 'cause that's how I roll).

I did remember. And it does fit nicely without hanging below the oil pan.

I used 6-3/4 qt instead of 6-1/2. I actually haven't checked the dipstick yet. Brb.

Hmm, seems overfilled. Maybe I should have stuck with 6.5.

2 years later, I decided to change the oil again. Oil life monitor said 84% remaining. Worse, I have driven it only 1,153 miles in 2 years. That is really bad. I need to drive it more. There was a lot of BS bridge construction there in the middle but not for all of it. I also need to get the right rear tire resealed since that leak is a nuisance. The left rear and right front also leak but not as bad. The only one that doesn't is the left front which was the last one I had resealed. I still haven't added air and it's been a pretty long time.
It really also is due for coolant. I'll pencil that in at some point...

You are the worst.

You drive the CTS-V less than I drive the Elise, which is already depressingly few miles. At least I have the excuse of it not being a safe way to transport kids. I'm actually really looking forward to getting that Vsport (or whatever it ends up being) so I have a vehicle I'm not ashamed to take to Cars and Coffee that can also accommodate a child seat.

The kids don't ride in the V. The SRX interior gets trashed with food and garbage.
Let me amend that. I would take Ian on some errands except I never run errands in it. Owen's seat is not ever going in it, not just because of the snack debris but because I don't like what strapped down seats do to leather, which is happening to my STS as we speak because I do have Owen's seat in there for when we take that car. I would do dual booster seats in the V but not for a trip where they must have snacks....which seems to be any trip where Jamie is also in the car...
