Another shot of the power supply board, after removal. No signs of arcing or other magic-smoke related maladies on the front or back.

Check out the surface mount ICs on the back of the board. Looks like great fun to solder. Hopefully I won't have to.

The real test was the two fuses. This fuse tested ok!

And so did this one! I guess this power supply is ok? I'll confirm in about 2 weeks when I get the replacement main board.

For future reference, I found definite homes for 6 of the 7 fine threaded screws. Those locations are the two holes at each speaker mount, two on the main board and I ended up putting the last one at the bottom middle hole just above the center of the stand mount.

Aside from manipulating the TV into position to work on it, this was pretty easy. Due to the size, the boards are all nicely spread out and only single layered. This really isn't bad.

I think I found the solution to your problem....Gravity Test!

While I am sure a gravity test of this TV would be quite the spectacle, it actually hits like 9 out of 10 of my requirements for a replacement TV. I should probably see if I can get it working before dropping it off of a building. Which itself would be a challenge. No, I'm not challenging YOU. Haha

Update:
The estimated ship date for 3922763, Control Board, has changed to 9/30/2015. We're so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.
They should probably correct the system to send a more positive message when the ship date moves to the left. Not sure on the shipping method but having it by this weekend would sure be sweet. I should probably plan on this time next week though.

The box. The software warning is interesting. I wonder if I should try the USB route or if I can get it to update via LAN.

The side is much less interesting. Made in Mexico.

No, I did not put it in yet. Was too busy working on the generator.

No joy.

Well, partial joy. The TV actually powered on and displayed ch 4 analog (snow). But it won't stay on long before resuming the repetitive clicking symptom. However, if I unplug to reset, and try again, I can get it to come back for a short time. This is much better than before, but no more usable. I am going to order a power supply board. These guys (http://otexinc.com/Module-Repair/POWER- ... N44-00514A) offer an exchange program for a reasonable $85.

Searching through the AVS Forum thread, there are PLENTY of folks who had power supply board issues with this exact TV. With a new main board and power supply, I ought to be alright. If not, this experiment will probably end.

And then the gravity test begins? I hear gravity is undefeated. You might want to challenge that.

I shipped my board off this morning. Turns out it is not an exchange but an actual repair service.
