It does if you want to buy a nice used FRS in a few years.

A reduction in FR-S/BRZ supply to the market will not be a good thing for used values from the buyer's perspective. Looking back on it, I am very glad I didn't swap my Elise for a BRZ for even money back when the BRZ came out. Now I think I could almost get two BRZs for the value of my Elise. I was hoping they would sell enough BRZs and FR-Ss that they would become like the Miata or 240SX from the early 90s: a cheap, reliable, available RWD car for the masses.

Is Subaru continuing the BRZ? If not, you might want to buy two of them now.

Looks like Scion models will live on as Toyotas. Ebay sellers of FT-86 badges for the FR-S are going to be pissed.

When is this car going to become interesting?

To you? Right after you put an LS in it.

Maybe I mean interesting powertrains. There just might be something they can put in from the factory that isn't an LS. Amazing.

The UZ family V8 is fairly compact for being DOHC. If you want to keep a Subaru powertrain, maybe the flat 6? Probably not, as it is not small.

I meant a realistic engine that they'd actually ship the car with.
