I actually think the steering in the Suburban is decent. It's better than the X5!

Well, maybe I meant all of the characteristics of the platform, such as:
- Long wheelbase (more stable but doesn't beg to be thrown around)
- High CG ("omg, we are going to tip over" but not really)
- Tall, trucky tires (drove on tall sidewall 15s for many miles so I know how that feels)
- A little too much spring and too little damping (the Suburban is decent but this is how trucks feel due to having to meet GVWR requirements but not ride horribly unloaded)
- The roll is actually well controlled and helped keep the thing stable

Also I was familiar with the on-ramp and my experience has been that you can go flat out in most things unless the acceleration capability of the vehicle VASTLY exceeds the handling/skidpad capability. I wouldn't have been so bold on an off-camber, decreasing radius turn.

Got an email today from National saying that the Ford Transit will be available!

Looks like it's back on! I know the chances of getting an Ecoboost are like 0.001%, but this would be awesome: https://www.yahoo.com/news/blogs/motora ... 27877.html
