I guess I know what your talking about, people on GM B/D bodies (91-96 caprices/impalas, fleetwoods) would use a starter from (dont quote me) a corvette and it had a different sound to it.

It's like he read my mind. Also, this is true. The LT1 B-body people would try to find the Nippon Denso gear reduction starter from the Corvette LT1. It sounded cool. Here it is on a Roadmaster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78xQ2-chV5k

Anyway, it always comes back to B-bodies. Which is correct.
