Turns out when people refer to these they really mean CVT (like a snow mobile). Way better than a centrifugal clutch.

Ed has two that need to be assembled and possibly some TLC. I heard Pug 1 say "torque converter" and looked it up. Obviously I was all excited but it's a CVT. A legit transmission but not the torque converter I was thinking of.

I'm down to one go cart now. Gave away the little one.

I still have the adult sized one. It mostly needs assembly, a centrifugal clutch ("TC"s are like 6 times more expensive), and tires.

Cool. We are all making go karts because we realized we can't afford fast cars, or track time, just old lawn tractors that are broken or abandoned, and go kart frames, also broken or abandoned. Tim is rich and might use a new predator motor for $120 instead of lawn equipment drive trains.

We will all actually do nothing with this idea either, and our conversations have just devolved from dreaming of racing fast cars to making death trap lawn karts. Oh man... Discussions like this make me think I need to re-evaluate my life...

Then I realized there is nobody logged in, and I am not having a discussion, I am talking to myself about how I will never actually make a Lawn Kart...

I only have one local, convenient place to use equipment like that and it would have to have some off road capabilities. I have no real reason to drive around in the woods other than because it's cool.

Mine was a gift from an uncle, and is nearly complete. It came with a frame (obviously), 5hp Honda motor, axles, wheels (split/bolted for easy tire installation), seat, disc brake, steering assembly, etc. needs tires, chain, and centrifugal clutch. Very little to no fabrication needed. There is no reason not to spend an afternoon putting it together, other than family duties.. You're free to drive it when it's done, as long as you promise not to sue me if/when you crash it.

On a related note, I have an 8hp motor from a snowblower in case 5hp is boring.

If I put it together and end up never using it, it can go on craigslist and be sold to some other sucker that doesn't yet realize he has nowhere to use it.

You have it in writing - I will not sue you.
