I know this one is all the rage. However, I am generally not a fan of heavy hoppy bitterness. So Bob brought over some Bengali IPA last week, from Sixpoint Brewery in Brooklyn, NY.

Shockingly, I really enjoyed it. It's basically as hoppy as I can stand and still enjoy it. Mainly I enjoy the flavor initially and the finish is clean, with no lingering bitterness. Pretty strong head.

Some choice comments that mirror my experience:
There are so many reviews that I thought I would just submit a rating but decided to just add a few comments, Poured from a can into an IPA glass. The hop/bitterness flavor was about at the ceiling for my tastes so I really enjoyed it. A very good beer.
Pours a deep gold with medium head that lasts for a while and maintains a film on top of the beer and some lacing. Nose is a fruity citrus with some dank resin rounding it out. Taste is quite flavorful and rounded. Good bready malt backbone with a fruity bitterness. Not over-the-top in any way, but very well rounded and enjoyable. Darn tasty actually. Will drink again for sure.
L: gold/copper, clear, big thick head of offwhite foam that's very sticky at the top ... clarity and color are beautiful

S: pine, grapefruit, almost a cheesecake or cream cheese flavor -- not sour or even tart but a slightly butter aroma that has the same kind of "sour" quality sour cream has; as it warms, sweet grapefruit juice with some other fruity qualities, mango ... might have a bit of caramel to it

T: orange and pine ... both bitter and sweet, the hops have a solid bitter bite, mostly pine, perhaps some grapefruit, while the malt is pushing in a ton of bready, doughy sweetness; lots of orange, a little sweeter than grapefruit; mango

F: crisp but weighty, holds plenty of carbonation, solid all around

O: classic American IPA that's not just a hop bomb, for this relative easy-drinker with a good ale mouthfeel is loaded with malt sweetness
The last part is the overall takeaway for me. It's not a hop bomb. It tastes good, is very drinkable, and goes AWESOME with food. I am not a fan of the IPA generally but this is definitely my favorite so far. I haven't tried that many though.

This is good enough that it goes on my list next to the Milk Stout Nitro from Left Hand Brewery. Hopefully I can buy it at my usual store, because I drank my last one last night...

I would strongly recommend Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (Torpedo is good too but a little stronger), one of the best of this type in my opinion. Also, Rhode Island's own Flying Jenny by Grace Ale. Both are excellent. Grace Ale also has the Pour Judgment IPA out now. It is Pour Judgment because they make it for Pour Judgment in Newport.

I recommend Sub-duction at Outer Light Brewery in Groton.

A nice IPA, not too bitter. Around 8% ABV. And they worked Sub into the title, of course.

Try anything from Trillium in Canton, MA. They make amazing IPAs.

It turns out I like double IPAs better. Still like the Bengali though.

They also make those.
