Forum issue from yesterday

It was a hung query and system process. Once those hung processes were killed, the stuck queries executed and everything seemed to return to normal. I was screwing around in the MySQL web interface with no real luck but I did not think to check processes. Good old Dreamhost - they came through again.

Side note, the forum seems to be much faster. It think something was getting crappy for a while as I noticed something as simple as refreshing the unread messages page would take way too long. Now everything seems instant. I will try optimizing the MySQL tables as recommended by the tech as additional maintenance.

And that part is a little embarrassing because the phpMyAdmin interface for my MySQL DB actually has a number of helpful functions without needing to write SQL queries (as simple as they would be) such as: copy, analyze, check, repair, optimize and more. I did not notice these easy functions when I was frantically trying to diagnose the issue. Now I know.
