What?

My deck is one floor above ground level due to the walk out basement. I thought it would be nice if stuff under it was kept dry.

Palruf makes PVC corrugated roofing that will be ideal to install under, with a pitch to let water flow out. I measured and accounted for the proper overlap. Ended up buying five 8 footers and eight 12 footers.

The key is the pitch. To do that I used pressure treated 2x6s (total of 4) ripped to the right size on a table saw. I did 1/2" per 2 feet which should be adequate. To fasten them I used my favorite Deckmate screws with torx head. As a bonus, this will add some rigidity to the deck.

For the roof panels themselves I bought some exterior grade cabinet screws which have a nice washer head built in.

I plan to trim with tin snips which should be really easy.

This was just under $300 all in. Just need to finish...

The last shim boards on the end of the 11 foot section of deck were a good 3 feet from the last. But I cut the same 1/2" extra so it wasn't enough of a pitch for my taste. I added a 1/2" strip and I feel better now. The pitch seems to be maintained correctly now. Really excited to finish this.

I may even repair the light next to the door. Wondering if the shelter will be good enough to only tarp the lawn tractor through the winter, rather than each time I use it. Driving rain will still get under there but it should be a lot drier.

Finished with Adam's help. It rained yesterday so I checked out how dry it was. Obviously since three sides are open, it doesn't stay dry to the edge, but it's still pretty good. Only a couple minor drips at different seams. I will probably wait until I am home during a downpour and really see how it is holding up. Then I may mark the areas that are leaking and caulk them, if it's really that bad.

I've always wondered how this is done. Only other instance that I've seen used heavy duty canvas.

And I did.
I picked this out fairly carefully at the store. This is as bright as I could find an LED lamp like this. I like the diffuse light. Each lamp angles independently. 26W for 2,350 lumens (box says 180W equivalent). This will be great for getting firewood, tractor stuff or whatever I am doing under the (now dry) deck when it is dark outside.

It was $100.
