Ford is doing the same thing GM did in Australia

I just hadn't noticed until now.

This is the direct competitor to the Commodore.
Reasons behind the decision to end Australian production essentially amount to Ford losing money on it as a result of a strong Australian dollar and stiff competition from Asian imports. Ford Australia lost $583 million between 2008 and 2013.

Similar difficulties soon after prompted the decision to close both General Motors and Toyota manufacturing operations in Australia, placing the entire industry in that country in jeopardy, including supplier companies.
Evidently Toyota did something similar, as well.
