The comments seem to tell the real story.
It seems this should have been a CT6 competitor. It sounds like it is supposed to be a CTS competitor. But it is really just an XTS competitor. Not good.

The concept car was beautiful and well proportioned. This is bland and generic looking. Lincoln had the ammo for a comeback and just shot itself in the foot.
78K for a fancy fusion. Lincoln just fired their last bullet and missed. And I thought the Germans were bad about options costing an arm and leg.
http://autoweek.com/article/recalls/rec ... g-recalledHA!! When I first heard the Fordies talking up the "World Class" Continental before it even hit the showrooms, I figured Ford had taken a page from GM by sharing the Mustang's chassis with Lincoln - like Camaro shares with Cad. But no. They stayed with the same 15 year old playbook they used and failed with the Jaguar X type. Start with a cheap Ford FWD, add AWD and redress it and sell it for 2-3 times the price. It didn't work with Jag and it won't work with Lincoln. The engineering is so poor that even as this first drive hits the public, they have had to recall three months worth of the 775 / mo sales. Lincoln will soon join Mercury if this is Ford's big move - a $78k Fusion? Seriously?
