Wintah Beatah....is broken

Some idiot decided to take a left across two lanes of traffic to go the other way on Warwick Ave. Except my car was in the way. No air bags deployed, not even the side-impact ones.

Lower B-pillar was damaged.

Rear door doesn't sit flush on the body any more.

You can kinda see that the rear door is pushed back a bit. Also, you can kinda see the sheet metal buckling around door panel height.

Not shown:
- Rocker panel under the rear door is damaged (where the door's lower striker is.
- The rear door doesn't open all the way any more.
- Rear door hinges aren't right any more.

More superlatives for the Accord:
- First insurance claim for any car
- Potentially shortest period of car ownership (I only got the title last week)

If the car is totalled (B-pillar damage on a uni-body isn't good), I should see how close it gets me to a PPV...

I might take some more pics in the sunlight tomorrow if there is more damage to see.

I got NADA for the Fleetwood so hopefully they find it to be in good condition.

The pillar where the lower hinge on the rear door is really pushed in.

Also, that shot of the rear door open is as far as the door opens now.

The insurance company has deemed it a "total loss". I'm not sure the world is losing anything...

Now to see if I can get NADA for it...

http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2004/Hon ... -EX/Values

The value when adjusted for mileage and options is $5750.

If I recall NADA for my Fleetwood was around $5,850 after paying $1300 and putting some money into it. Doesn't sound all that different from what may become your experience.

Let's see...for me the Fleetwood was a 13 year old car with, I dunno, 75k miles or so. Accord is in the same age ballpark but more than twice the miles.

NADA docks $325 for the mileage.
