I wonder what’s the one sportscar people regret the most.
From the list I’d guess it is either a Nissan or FCA product.
Honorable mentions:
Based on sales figures and initial quality, I’d say a 4c. Though I’d imagine more regret comes from the ride quality in something super stiff like an Elise.
The answer is always Miata. Zero utility, but no speed.
If you’re on a sidewalk at a car show, I’d say Mustang.

Before you buy the car, rent the car! Two days will tell you if it’s right for you or not and $100 is a lot less to pay than 24 - 36 months of a $300 per month lease!
Just looking at the first three on the list, I thought these were rental cars.
lol

Test driving a car doesn’t really give you an idea about things you will not like about the car. Most of the time in the NY area dealers won’t even let you take it for a drive on the highway and even if they do it’ll be very short like one exit, which is not at all enough to get a good feel for it.

What I usually do is after a few test drives and narrowing down to a particular model I check rental car agencies to see if they offer that car, then rent it out for a weekend and do a long road trip. Best way to judje if it is a good match for you. Besides you don’t buy cars every couple of years, at least I don’t.
This is probably a point worth making. Many of the issues with these 7 cars could have been identified during a proper test drive. Problem is, the dealer culture doesn't really allow a proper test drive. More like 1 exit on the highway (if you are lucky to have a highway close to the dealer) and still the distinct feeling that you are wasting his time. So people probably just assume it is normal and make their decision anyway.

Except that doesn't help when we are talking about enthusiast cars.
Not many places to rent an E63 AMG :(

Speaking of test drive options, I wish there was a way I could do an extended test drive (or even a couple days, like I do with rentals) of the SS and VSport.

You probably could if you found the right dealer. I feel like it would actually be more likely with the V-sport for some reason.

FYI - the ILX is based on the previous generation Civic. No wonder people were disappointed.

That makes me feel better. People will not forgive just because it is a Honda/Acura. Though, I think the number of "Acura-enthusiasts" is actually small. They are basically the brand you buy when you can't afford the one you really want. A Buick is just as nice.
