Unfortunately this falls into BMW giving the customer what is being asked for. I believe I also read Buick is doubling down on CUVs due to them being the most in demand vehicle type. We live in sad times.
Back in the day, the family hauler was a station wagon, which drove like a big car and had V8 options. These were sweet as family haulers and as drivers.
The CUV and SUV really lose the car driving dynamics and enthusiast appeal leaving only an appliance...

The German stuff has halfway decent driving dynamics. It's the same "class" that the first gen SRX was in.
