I believe 92 would have had the 4.5 or 4.9L V8. Which may be a better choice for reliability...

The patriotic vibe on this video is unmistakable and nothing you'll see ever again I think.

Always Northstar discussion. Here's a quote:
Northstar engines should be impossible to overheat, they have a sealed cooling system that never loses coolant and the computer will put the car into limp mode if temps get to high, morons that kept driving around after it was in limp mode blew head gaskets but that will happen on any car if you keep driving around with a broken water pump (which go bad on all cars) Also if they Never did any maintenance the coolant becomes acidic and corrodes the head bolts but again that happens on all cars. If you own or are looking to buy a northstar check the coolant if its low it is broken don't buy, if you already own one flush the coolant NOW like the owners manual recommended. I was a GM tech and seen northstars last 250,000 miles if you just change fluids, if you don't well don't be surprised when it blows a gasket like any aluminum engine would after overheating it.
I'll take his opinion with a grain of salt but what I will back is the absolute necessity to change the coolant frequently on the Northstar. I don't have the data to back this up but I think that's what happened on the ones that made it well past 100k with no signs of head gasket failure. Now on the Dexcool cars, the reality is, GM probably recommended a 100k interval which was just too long given the mixed materials in the Northstar which were much more susceptible to galvanic action.
