Amusingly the comments are disabled on this video.
This feels like a betrayal, but I guess I can't figure out why. On the plus side, it opens up the chance for some other YouTube show to take over their niche and then sell out too.

No it looks like they just are shuttling all traffic away from YouTube. Which is more evidence that Youtube is no longer a legitimate income source.

This does suck for me though because I use the YouTube app on my TV. Now I'll have to watch via computer. First world problems.

Oh, that's cool. I guess I can handle free.. even though this means it probably won't work on roku either.
Wonder if roku has a motor trend app...

It turns out there is a roku app, and it looked like there were three new roadkill episodes available on that.. the dirtfish one and the vetted cart one among them.
I wonder if roadkill stays free... not sure what 'exclusive' means in this context.. but the video link said roadkill would be available 'exclusively' on Motor trend on demand.
25 bucks a year for that much content actually seems like a good deal.. we pay at least that for each whole season of The Walking Dead on amazon. Buying a season or two of shows a year easily beats cable prices. But I can see that it would be easy to spend as much as cable if you watch too many things.

I believe that was the stuff originally only available on MT On Demand (like Roadkill Extra or whatever). Stuff you never watched because it was never on YT except for sample episodes. So that stuff remains behind a pay wall.

$2.99 * 12 = $35.88/yr. Maybe the best streaming subscription if you are a car enthusiast.
Adam and I had a conversation about this a few lunches ago. We all kind of asked for this. We were like "cable is too expensive! I want a la carte!" Then we load up on $10-$20/mo services until it's....about as much as cable, or more. Somehow we never saw this coming. I'm cheap so I don't anticipate paying for it. I'm STILL annoyed that I "have to" subscribe to both Netflix and Amazon Prime and I refuse to add another recurring cost for entertainment. Don't forget about Youtube Red! A subscription service from the people who brought free video hosting to the internet!!! Hulu went this way years ago, after the initial roll out.
You could make an argument that even if this stuff all added up to your old cable bill, you are getting the focused entertainment that you actually want, not a bunch of total garbage. And you retain the power to drop individual services should they fail to perform.
It seems like the entire world is on board with the subscription model. Recurring costs are the entire reason no one is ever able to save any money - individually they are like "well I can afford $16/mo" until it actually adds up to real money. Shit I just subscribed to Office 365 but for 1TB cloud storage. And kind of like that people would justify their individual recurring costs. Though, add them up and see if you still feel that way.
To continue my rant...a bunch of kid stuff is also subscription based. Like this:

There was another one that was also just like this.

It's 2.99 a month for the first three months, then 4.99 after that.. 25 a year as an intro rate. I watched an episode of roadkill today. There were 3 advertising breaks including 6 commercials in the first 15 minutes. Not cool, but I guess they gotta pay the monkey somehow.

There is an illegal Roadkill Garage on YouTube. Ha.
