If the Telluride completely upsets the midsize/large FWD-based crossover segment, The Genesis GV80 seems to be poised to do the same for the upmarket RWD-based luxury segment.
As with all other Genesis models, we can expect prices to remain competitive. We anticipate the GV80 will start as low as $48,000 for base models, and around $70,000 for the top-of-the-line trims. Stay tuned for more coverage on the 2021 Genesis GV80—we plan to drive a U.S.-spec model this summer.
I'll say this: the fact that the Escalade interior seems better than this is very reassuring. Normally much cheaper vehicles, especially upsetters from Hyundai, would out-do luxury brands, especially if they are below average for actual luxury (as previous Escalades have been).

On second thought, this isn't even close to an Escalade competitor:
The model we saw in Chicago came with the optional third row, but we don't recommend it—the ingress/egress is quite difficult for anyone taller than 6 feet, and once you get back there, leg- and headroom are very compromised.

I kind of wish this was out before I recommended the MDX. This strikes me as more of a XT6 / Aviator competitor than an Escalade competitor. Am I wrong?

No you're right. I was just comparing it.
