Which lead me to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_deno ... ._currency
How about the game of Monopoly w/ $500 bills? Or Life w/ $100,000 bills? Well there was as large as a $10,000 bill once in public circulation. The $100,000 bill was not released to the public.
Interesting comment about (not) potentially bringing back larger denominations:
There is a section of attempts at using a $100,000 bill (I'd say counterfeit but there is no public such denomination ever made, though as legal tender it would be considered counterfeit). Of course, this section is directly below the $200 bill section. Which were (depressingly) initially successful transactions. One was in the south and the other PA.
Anyway, 3 of the 4 reported attempts at using a $100,000 bill were in the south (the other was PA, again), two of which occurred at a Walmart.
You stay classy, southern US. And PA.

Then that lead me to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fake_denom ... s_currencyWhen combined with concerns about counterfeiting and the use of cash in unlawful activities such as the illegal drug trade and money laundering, it is unlikely that the U.S. government will re-issue large denomination currency in the near future, despite the amount of inflation that has occurred since 1969 (A $500 bill is now worth less, in real terms, than a $100 bill was worth in 1969).
