RV Replacement

Post by rpaoness »

Considering an RV update. Just started looking. Would like a Newmar or Tiffin as those are the mid-aught's premium units I believe, and I think almost all units are on Spartan Mountain Master or Freightliner XC chassis. Monaco/Holiday Rambler (same company) went out of business in 2008 and got bought and reorganized, but kept selling RVs all through I think. I think somewhere around 2006 or so they stopped using Freightliner (and maybe Spartan) chassis and started using their own-designed Roadmaster chassis. There was some rear suspension issue that repair kits are available for, but I think the Roadmaster chassis would be the least desirable. I think either a Cat C7 (updated 3126, which is what I have) or a Cummins ISC would be preferred, Cummins ISB would be OK I think too, but I think it's less Class 8 truck-like than the others. Side radiator would be preferred for service access.

2008 Newmar Ventana 3942, 58k miles, has two-bunk room in middle, Cummins ISB $60k asking:

This seems like too-much recent work... I wonder what happened, "brand new ECM, brand new oil gauge, brand new turbo, tires with less than 2000 miles on them".

2008 Monaco Knight 40DFT, pretty heavy front cap and front fender damage. Would need $2-4k of body work to be usable, probably more to be nice. 57k miles, $34,500
