The old GT500 was terrible so hopefully this one is good. But I am more curious how the brand new GT350 will compare to the out-going Z28.
As for the Challenger, that thing is a pig. We should be having HP/weight wars, not just HP wars.
Or in the case of the Chevy SS, how much awesome car can you cram into a modest package at a really competitive price.

After renting a Challenger, I am convinced the chassis is worthless. Supposedly the Hellcat can run high-10s on drag radials. Straight line speed is kind of worthless if the car doesn't inspire any confidence. I think I'd probably rather drive the Z28.

Yeah. But it is cool they're even making the Hellcat at all.

That is kind of the point that I was getting at. I will never be able to afford these cars, but the fact that the companies are making them is awesome.
I look at all of these (Z-28, Z-L1, GT-500, Hellcat) as Halo cars to an extent. They are made to make people talk about them and get excited about that type of car. The goal is also to drive up sales of the lower models(SS, GT, RT). If this works, it is a win for everyone that is a "car guy".

The Camaros are much more well-rounded. In fact, GM has been building well-rounded cars for a while now.

Looks like a handful but they have improved the chassis control with this one, it appears. We'll have to see/read a real compare. I want to hear what Randy Pobst has to say.

C&D tested a Hellcat Challenger.

I'm already irritated by the name but whatever.
11.7 sec @ 126 mph and C&D even observed 16 mpg. That's impressive. It weighs a super svelte 4,488 lbs. Due to that excessive pork, it's only 0.1s and 1 mph faster than the 2013-2014 Mustang GT500 (which can't handle). Still reading to see how C&D feels about the chassis. But it has traction issues. Duh.

It hits 150 mph in 17 seconds flat, 0.8-second ahead of the Viper and the same time as we recorded from the quickest C6 Corvette Z06 we ever tested
Yeah I called that. C6 Z06 performance, which we had all the way back in 2006.
Here is a STEAL of a deal on a 2006 Z06 (rebuilt title, but it sounds solid and has been modded to 563 whp all natural, and it still gets 26 mpg). $30k. This will lap a Challenger in any kind of track environment. Just saying.

Before pics are usually a sign of an honest salvage title seller (if such a thing exists). Recently, one of my colleagues was interested in a salvage title Prius (just trying to find a cheap commuter car). The seller denied having any before repair pics. Thankfully I was resourceful enough to google the VIN and found the original auction listing pre-repair.
