3,524. That's too bad but I think this is a case of be careful what you ask for. People wanted Euro-refinement and appointments (so they say). Still, it will be very good. But it appears the days of the 3,100 lb Z06 are gone.

The good news is the famous Corvette trait of convertibles not weighing more is still intact, as the Z06 convertible is 3,582 lbs.

Incidentally, this is 171 pounds heavier, according to Chevrolet, than the 2013 Corvette ZR1 and 325 more than the 2013 Corvette Z06. Such is the price of more sophisticated suspension hardware, structural enhancements, plus a fat Eaton supercharger and all of its attendant plumbing on the 6.2-liter LT4 V-8.

We can discuss the relevance of this comparison, but a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S weighs 3,619 lbs, despite costing $200k. Yes that's AWD, but I think the Z06 is not really the GT3 type of car it used to be, for better or worse. Maybe there will be a stripped down version.

A 2014 GT3 is 3,152 lbs, which is exactly what an old Z06 weighed.

Somewhat disappointing to see, but the more important thing will be how it drives. I feel like the C5 drove heaver than its curb weight indicated, but maybe things have improved over the last couple generations.

All I know is rising curb weight of other sports cars is helping to sustain and even increase Elise values.
