Well for $73,045 as tested, it better be. These may actually come down since they aren't the CTS-V. A lot of people buy these for the name I would think, and this isn't the right name.

$61k base price. Standard features list a mile long.

Also I have good or bad news: the CT6 seems to be like what the XTS was, except on a premium RWD platform. Won't totally break the bank, less emphasis on lap time, more emphasis on comfort and space. You say this is what Cadillac should be building, or at least have a model like this. The CT6 is not their uber-sedan, even if it is somewhat positioned as that right now. I'd argue the CTS-V is.

I'd argue this is actually similar to the conditions that have existed previously, especially with the old XTS (Epsilon II). Technically it may be the flagship, or at least the biggest. But it's not really. Better performance and tech can be had in the CTS-V.

This is similar to what the 1990 Brougham meant to Cadillac's lineup in 1990. Except the execution of the XTS is a much better car, and the CT6 another leap.

Lincoln had the exact same formula. The Town Car was supposed to be the flagship but the Continental was higher tech and higher performing.

Probably worth revisiting this question now. Seems like the low water mark for Vsport Premiums with <30k miles (original MSRP of $70k) is around $40k right now. There is one Vsport Premium in NC with 74k on it for $32,850. For the base Vsport (original MSRP $60k), there are a few around $36k with <30k miles. There is one base Vsport in Florida with 27k on it for $34,880. These are still out of my range, but they are dropping fast!

Since I wrote this, the CT6 has been reviewed and from a performance standpoint, it exceeds expectations. It's huge, light, and agile. The XTS was roomy and that was about it.

The XTS, which sadly is still the only modern Cadillac I have driven, was somewhat of a disappointment. This is mainly because it really wasn't much nicer than a Lacrosse.

It's not a bad car, per se. In fact it's equivalent to Lincoln really. It's just nothing at all like the RWD stuff.
