Another factor is that we live next to a state with no inspection, emissions or otherwise (SC).

Hardly worthy of a mention here, but early 90s Mitsubishi Diamante wagon with plenty of blue smoke emissions. Car appeared to be in very good condition otherwise.

That car could have been seen 10 years ago blowing blue smoke. That's the funny part.

I finally got to see someone drive the giant 66 wheeled heavy material transporter at the shipyard today. Giant cloud of black smoke. Looked like one of those roll coal douchebags on YouTube. I wonder if it was just because it hadn't been started in a month.

Not the actual vehicle but this is similar. The real one has RI licence plate "666" welded to the front of it. Making it even more awesome.

That 666 license plate thing sounds familiar for some reason.

Fun fact: many aftermarket diesel tuning programs destroy the engine over the long term, particularly if the owner does anything more than floors the gas for 10 seconds. And particularly in the higher power settings, as you would expect. Mainly the casualties are pistons, rings or head gaskets. I don't think the bottom ends typically have issues, or at least they are not the weak link. I am speaking in general, not of a specific engine.

On that Duramax, I guess if the engine was stock (i.e. no tuner) then that smoke would likely be a turbo seal.
