Saabkyle04: 2017 Camaro ZL1

I didn't realize this was hitting the press fleets but then again it is December so it is actually late. Apparently GM is quoting 11.4 @ 127 which is basically Z06 performance.

The new 10 speed looks like the first torque converter automatic that actually rivals a dual clutch.

And here's a roll -on race against a Z06 w/ Z07. Pretty even despite the weight disadvantage. Would like to see dyno results.

Only 25 miles on the odo, lol.

I think I saw the gas gauge move twice.

Manual ZL1 vs Challenger Hellcat A8.

Real test with be with the 10 speed in the ZL1. May just even it out.

570 rwhp on the ZL1.
635 rwhp on the Hellcat.

Very similar power to weight ratios.

Imagine a Hellcat that can corner, a GT350 with 124 more horsepower, and an M4 with great steering

I think that quote sums up the car well.

I think this may be a better choice than the Z06. Maybe not better than the Grand Sport.

It is better than all of them. The Camaro is officially the best car ever made. It only took 50 years.

Commenting on the orginal post:

This car is awesome, this review is very boring. Not really entertaining. If we had a show, we could be doing a review about this car.... That is depressing.

You could make the case for the Grand Sport for sure - not for drag racing but for driving. The ZL1 probably does handle its power better than the Z06 and is not any slower. The Grand Sport is probably the best all around sports car under $100k (probably more).

Before you give the Camaro too much credit, it would be nothing without Cadillac's Alpha. There is nothing inherent in its identity as a Camaro that makes it good, except some loose styling connections to the past (which are non-functional).
