This is pretty awesome. Actually the performance is still somewhat impressive by Today's standards. Trapping 109 in 1993 was no joke. This was the day when a sub-7 0-60 was considered pretty fast.

I want to say a 1993 C4 would trap around 105 (and completely different drivability character).

So they're describing how much of a race-car it is, but I always thought of the Supra as more of a GT car.

Also, there was a naturally aspirated Supra?

If only the radio were as deliberately placed. It's low on the dash, which is a shame: there's a perfect spot for it up high, where a vent and a large digital clock currently reside. Another mistake: a digital odometer that occupies its own panel, removed some distance from the speedometer. Gratuitous clutter.
Ah yes. I remember these days. Radio and HVAC placement in the dash was among the top level interior criticisms. No one talked about material quality or fit and finish.

Yes, there was a N/A supra with a 220 HP 3.0L inline 6 (the same as the SC300/GS300).

If you look at this comparison by today's standards, Japan currently doesn't make anything remotely close to a C7 in price that can trap 117 or whatever. I think that made the Supra pretty special in its day, which is further supported by comparing the resale value of a 93 C4 to a 93 Supra Turbo.

You also have to take into account rarity. There are 6 1993 Supra Turbos on autotrader (and only 2 SEs).

Meanwhile, there are 147 1993 Corvettes.

On the other hand, you can basically pick up a ZR-1 for the price of an equivalent Turbo....which traps, what, 114? 115?

True - I guess at this time the Supra was also brand new while the C4 was showing some serious age since it was already 10 years old at the time the Supra launched.

Supra's are super popular due to their insane aftermarket upgradability.

Do a quick google (or Bing) lookup for "1000 hp Supra" you get videos and all. The car is fairly small and light. This is the car celebrities kids buy and get into trouble with.

Hulk Hogan's son was in an accident driving this, tragically killing his friend. That is only one example in the near present.

Quick example: 600whp for $2,600

What does a 400rwhp, 600rwhp and 800rwhp Supra have in common?
