Craigslist scams

Post by kevm14 »

How about a thread for them?

First example which just popped up:
http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/5969453004.html
1996 Impala Providence.$3500 - $3500
1996 impala SS like new -cd player holds 10 cds -borla stainless steel exaust magna flo cats k&n air charger filter auto start alarm. car has been garaged since new paint is like the day I bought it never seen snow. car has 47000. original miles.

The formula is pretty simple. Relatively short listing description, usually resulting in a very nice example, often low miles, and a single picture. Plus obviously a too good to be true price.

I think the Tahoe has a better chance of being real than this - this would qualify for an impulse buy. The value of this car is at least twice the asking. Probably more like $10k.

2003Z71 Tahoe SuperClean!!! - $1500

2003 chevyy

condition: excellent
cylinders: 8 cylinders
drive: 4wd
fuel: gas
paint color: black
size: full-size
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
type: SUV

- 5.3L Flex Fuel V8
- 4WD
- ABS (4-Wheel)
- AM/FM Stereo w/6-Disc Changer (not functioning)
- Bose Speakers/Amps
- Rear Seat Audio
- OnStar
- Front/Rear HVAC
- Power Windows/Locks
- Power Moonroof
- Cruise Control
- Dual Power Front Heated Seats
- Third Row Seats (removable for more cargo space)
- Leather
- Towing Package w/2" receiver hitch
- Roof Rack w/Cross Bars
- Premium Alloy Wheels
- Running Boards
To be real this would have to be without those wheels and very high mileage. And even then...

It is interesting to mention that the changer doesn't work. Not like anyone would care - just adds an element of realism. If this is real, it may be that the audio system is completely butchered and nothing works.

This one keeps popping up and gets flagged. Clear scam. I don't have the text but it's obvious.

I'm assuming this is a scam, although it does have a Charlotte number associated with the ad.

Another one with Borla.

Borla was one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive bolt-on cat-back exhausts available for the SS, so I kind of laugh at the use of it in cheap, scammy SSs.
