Ranger for sale, for Bill

Post by kevm14 »

To replace the Corolla as a third vehicle, transfer station runs and other general purpose things, plus learn manual trans.

2000 Ford Ranger - $1300 (RI)
Truck runs and looks great. Was used for Routine commuting to Boston. Engine runs like new. 127k Miles.

$1500 in recent repairs. Including New Brakes, New Shackle, New EGR Tube, New Rear Axle Wheel bearings (drivers side and passenger side), New Drivers side Wheel Bearing. Coolant was also Flushed.

Bring a mechanic. Perfect Farm Truck.
It sounds good mechanically. I hope it is not a total rusty mess underneath. I am not expecting it to be clean and it doesn't need to be clean. But it has to be solid even if everything is brown. I don't see anything wrong with the body. I guess I could look. Because this is....really local. Sign says $1200.

How will you know when to shift with no tach?

That's lame for an XLT. My 91 Ranger XLT (with A4LD) has a tach.

Fun facts:
- This truck uses the Ford 2.5L which was the final evolution of the 2.3L Lima 4 cylinder that is in my Ranger and dates back to the Pinto. It has 119 hp and 149 lb-ft. Honestly it probably drives alright, especially with the 5-speed. That is just about the same torque as its replacement:

- In 2001, Ford finally replaced this engine with the Duratec 2.3L. Bill will be familiar with this engine. It powers his Mazda 3. Or maybe he has the 2.0L, in which case the Ranger has 17 lb-ft more torque but 25 fewer hp. I forget. Same family.

- I think it has rack and pinion steering. Fancy.

The pictures look decent.
Bring a mechanic. Perfect Farm Truck.
There is a vote of confidence... LOL.

The tach thing is kind of dumb. Would be nice to have. Overall it seems reasonable, I am just not sure I am in the market for something like this right now.

Damn, priced for a quick sale I guess. Listing is gone, and I don't see the truck.

I saw the truck in the driveway.

Scanned Craigslist. It's back.

I have no idea what the back story here is but it must be good.

This guy topped off my oil tank and then stopped to check out the Ranger. Bill has competition.
