As long as these allow them to make cars that I'd actually want to drive, I'm totally fine with it.

Also, this range I think will finally bring direct injection to the Cruze. And maybe the Volt next gen?

I have heard many rumors that the next gen Volt will have a 3 cylinder ecotec engine.
