Damn. More or less C5 Z06/gen 6 Camaro SS territory. In a sedan from 2006. You could buy a decent C5 Z06 for that money. Or an entire luxury car that goes as fast. Of course, it is packaged as a terrible German car so that's a downside.

What's kind of sad is that is also STS-V money and that E55 is waaaaay more car in every possible way.

2011 Infiniti G25X with 60k for $13,850. Probably the least desirable G-series configuration (small engine and AWD), but it is low mileage and looks to be in decent shape. Also, it has the Journey package so it's not a base model.

On the flipside, you could say this speaks volumes to the relative reliability of the STS-V.

The 2012 Genesis is an interesting option. In 2012, they switched to the 8 speed auto and DI 3.8L V6 (333 hp). The car is still a little cushy for my taste, but I think it could be comfortable for them. Especially when you consider it's no more expensive used than a Camry or Accord of the same year and mileage.

Starting to get down to crunch time here; although I did tell them they need a permanent address and a license before I will buy for them because it gets messy to have an unregistered car in my possession for too long. Realistically, I will probably need to buy something during the first couple weeks of July.

After a little bit of drama, the search ended today. We were close to buying a 2012 Mazda5 over the weekend, but the seller couldn't find the title and we ran out of patience. My friends ended up with a 2013 Camry XLE (4 cylinder) with 78k miles for $11k. I think it's a decent car for the money. The XLE options make it a little more exciting to own than a regular Camry. It has dual zone auto climate, sunroof, navigation, and a lot of in car technology that seems like it could still be useful today (Pandora support and some other stuff). The car is super clean and I think they're happy with it.
