Yes, it would need a very thorough inspection to know for sure. It would need to be local and the seller would need to be willing to allow for this inspection.

I don't know of any facility that is actually in the business of doing this kind of inspection. You can't just put it up on a lift and walk around with a shop light for 15 minutes.

I think I'd want a place that was in the business of this kind of thing, and also slapped some kind of guarantee/warranty on it against flood-replaced future problems. I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to do that. But I haven't exactly researched it.

Yeah, I'm not even sure what you can do as a precaution. Change every fluid? I guess the biggest issue with flood cars is the electrical stuff, which could be a nightmare.

Yes, electrical is the issue.
Mechanical is easy. If the engine isn't locked up it's probably fine. Easy to verify. But wiring, plugs and modules are things that can take a long time to present issues (non-flooded cars can also have issues but the flood just makes a problem a lot more likely but may not present at time of inspection).

I am intrigued by the possibility of a $15k V-sport; however the electrical risks are high. The 2016 does have updated CUE with Apple CarPlay support.

The 166k mile Vsport ad is updated with pics: http://www.westgatechryslerjeepdodge.co ... 9a96a6.htm

It actually looks pretty clean.

I watched that Jeep Track Hawk video from Doug DeMuro and I'd say the speedo on the Jeep is about as ugly as the speedo on the base V-sport. I don't know why. But it looks very similar but with a vertical sweep rather than more horizontal.

Change all the control modules and the entire harness. Problem solved.

2014 Vsport Premium with 61k miles for $24,996 at a Mercedes dealer in Atlanta. No pictures yet. This seems to be in line with what I would be looking for. Unfortunately, it's black, which is a bad color for a daily driver, especially in the South.

Carfax shows an accident involving a rear end collision. Doesn't sound severe, but no way to tell without a thorough inspection of the car. Could be a good bargaining chip to get the price down.
