I think if I could get an SS for at least $5k less than a comparable Vsport (we're not there yet and we may never be), I would have to give the SS more serious consideration. The SS does have the advantage of being more roomy, not having Cue and having the better sounding, more proven powertrain.

I think the only scenario that could push me into the SS camp at equivalent pricing would be one where some serious issues with the Vsport's powertrain emerged. I don't see this happening based on what I have seen so far, but you never know.

The $5k is what I was looking for.

Your other criteria is what I expected.

Did you see the recall info?

I saw that on the Carfax report for that car. It looks like the recall was issued recently, which is interesting.

I guess I should probably do another round of test drives to refresh my memory. My only memory of the Vsport drive was entering the first corner with it and knowing it was the right car. There aren't many cars that have grabbed me this way when it comes to their dynamics. It was sort of like my first Elise test drive back in 2005 in some ways. The SS just doesn't do that from a chassis standpoint. It's not Charger bad, but it's not on the same level with the Vsport in terms of feel and vehicle dynamics.

Confirmed this is Phantom Gray Metallic with the Kona leather. This is my favorite interior / exterior combination. The Kona brown leather was a $1,650 option on top of the premium package. Still no pics online.

Plus you get the satisfaction of walking in to a Mercedes dealer and when they ask you "Sir, which new Mercedes were you interested in today?" your smug reply can be "I am here for the used Cadillac."

Ahh yes, and explaining to them that the reason I like it better is that it's more reliable and drives better than the equivalent E-class.

Exactly, but maybe bring that up after signing the paperwork with the agreed upon price...

Hard to tell much from these, but it's definitely Phantom Gray, not black, and has the Kona leather.
