M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
Re: M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
Cars and Cappuccino is basically Cars and Coffee minus the Mustangs and Challengers. Recently, they made it a members only thing where you have to own some kind of interesting European car to go. It's very close to my house and it's on Sunday morning when there's nothing else to do in Charlotte because of church. Because of this, I end up going more often than I go to Cars and Coffee.
Re: M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
So is the issue that flamboyant american muscle always dominates C&C? Is a Corvette in the same category? What if someone had, say a 1990 ZR-1? I actually would like a show that was everything except conventional american muscle. Unless the Corvette was lumped in then maybe not. Not that I need to see 19 C5 Corvettes but there are plenty of interesting models through the years. I would also like it if stuff like the 90s Impala SS were allowed. I think it would allow more focus on stuff that is interesting but doesn't get the attention due to the high noise floor of the regular stuff (basically all of the stuff I like).. But if it's just European cars, then that's probably not my show.
Re: M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
This show definitely skews European, so it's probably not your cup of tea. Also, it's usually like a 20-30 car event as opposed to Cars and Coffee that can be several hundred when the weather is nice.
Re: M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
In that case I would still probably go because I would be able to get up close to all vehicles at the show. Not that it is local to me...
I guess all I was saying is I kind of get not allowing conventional American stuff. When you get those cars, it seems to just be a competition of who has the brighter paint color, bigger wheels, more aggressive hood scoop, bigger rear tires and so on. It gets boring.

That is cool. I would probably check it out if there were a local one, and I had a car to allow my entry. I like a variety of things so I wouldn't be put off by not having the usual suspects there.
One think to disagree with Kevin a little bit on is that it depends on the show. I agree seeing 50 bone stock new Camaros or Corvettes can get boring, I usually focus on looking for the best stock cars there, and for the coolest modified. Best stock cars usually only relates to older cars. I agree with Kevin that seeing 30 stock Gen 5 or 6 Camaro SSs gets old. Seeing clean older cars like Monte Carlo SSs or Grand Nationals, 60's Camaros, 70's Trans Ams, is cool to me because clean examples are rare around here and I like those styles.
I am not really into the tuner crowd, but seeing some cool Japanese cars from the 90's would be nice too, although I have never been to a show with them.
European cars are hit or miss for me. I like Porsche (Cayman mainly), Lotus, and Ferrari. BMW is ok, and that is about it. It is kind of funny but for the most part, I don't have a connection with the European brands. I was never really a fan of VW or Audi. I liked the styling of the 3 series in the late 90's to early 2000's but I am not as much into the more bloated/rounded design.

Re: M/T: Ford GT second (first) test
I pretty much like big sleeper/muscle sedans (not exclusively but I like them), so if we are talking about older European stuff, that is pretty rare, even at car shows. Mercedes built some cool stuff in the late 60s and BMW later on. Frankly I wouldn't mind rare Japanese stuff, perhaps even JDM, like a Nissan Gloria. You show me a car show with stuff like that and I'll go to it. Throw in a late 50s Imperial just to show that it doesn't have to be GM. Everything I mentioned is cool and so hard to find at car shows as I wade through 1968 GTO after 1970 Mustang. Sigh. It's hard to be me.
