This is fine I guess but where is the Kia Stinger GT competitor? Ideally it would be RWD based, not FWD based. So I don't know if dropping in a 3.6 or 3.0TT V6 is really the answer. And what would it cost? This is already $40k.

Since we no longer have the Pontiac division, I guess what I'd propose is a Chevrolet performance sedan offering on Alpha-II (assuming that is in the works). We've been talking about this for a while...

Also, what the hell is this?
Continuous Damping Control shocks ...
Those spool-valve-type CDC shocks can assess conditions and alter damping rates 500 times per second
That is not MRC.

We’re sorry the clock ran out on the Verano—a GS 3.6-liter AWD one of those would be rad.
Yup.

This is ok. AWD is better than FWD enthusiast wise. The car looks kind of ... weird. It isn't bad, but maybe looks like it wants to be an Audi on the outside, and a sports car on the inside. Not very defining of itself. 310 HP is no slouch but 0-60 in 5.9 isn't exactly insane. It will be interesting to see how this depreciates. I could see having this as a daily, as long as the GS badge doesn't over inflate resale. To me, this isn't a "GS". It isn't bad but it should be the version below the GS, and the GS should have a V8. If they were going to do a sick turbo 6, that would be a GN, not GS. Either way, GS or GN, this should look better...

I just don't like great names from history being used in average cars of today. It bothers me, almost in a false advertizing way. I get that performance numbers wise sometimes the lame for today version might be a little better than the hero of yesterday, but that isn't enough to do the name continued justice. I think it just waters down the brand.

Being a GN fan, I root for the Regal to make a real comeback. This isn't it.

Or just compare them now apparently.

A fairly lame comparison but does make the point that, at least on paper, they aren't totally ridiculous to compare...

I keep forgetting this is a hatch.
The last chapter in Buick's mission to have the freshest lineup in the industry, the 2018 Regal GS bucks the typical engine downsizing trend with a large displacement V6 replacing the old turbo 4-cylinder. Now pumping out a stout 310 HP through a new 9-speed transmission and standard AWD. Combine all that performance with the practicality of the Sportback body style and Buick says this vehicle will go head to head with the likes of a Lexus IS350 F-Sport and Acura TLX SH-AWD A-Spec. Those who can look past the Buick badge may a lot to like with this new hot Buick sport sedan
He really likes the engine - Buick did V6 as a differentiator to the normal turbo 4s in the class (or even base Regal).
