If I had money this seems like what I would do with my spare time. Cool dealer.
God those McLarens are monsters on the highway. Also the Demon shows us why trap speed matters. And weight...
Streetspeed717 races Demon?
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
I watched that race and honestly I expected it to be closer. Doesn't the Demon trap 140 or something?
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
I don't quite buy the 140. If I recall (being lazy without searching) no magazine actually really tested the Demon in their normal way. Like, give it normal high performance tires and not race gas - what does it run? It's still going to be fast of course, but you aren't going to see 9.9 @ 140 or whatever. I guess no one wants to really tear the Demon down but I'm kind of surprised at the same time. Seems like an easy target.
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
Rematch against another Demon because apparently skeptical Demon fans were like "that result was impossible" for the first vid.

Same overall result. Much more shockingly, there is B-body content in this video.
I really want to see ZR1 vs Demon actually. Though an auto ZR1 would be a more sure thing (Mike's is a manual).

Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
Are you sure the auto ZR1 would still be faster from a roll than a manual? I guess more gear ratios would help keep it in the power band.
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
Yeah, based on watching those videos I'd say the manual is only a liability, not an advantage. The shift times incrementally notch away at forward thrust and for vehicles that are very close, seem to give the race away to the one with the auto/sequential trans.
The 10-speed would be better. For some reason, maybe some weird GM pride thing, they are sticking with the 8L90 on the Corvette, even though by all accounts the GM/Ford joint venture 10 speed is better in every way. Or there is some packaging restriction.

Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
It could be that they just don’t want to invest in the redesign it would take to accommodate the 10 speed at this point in the design cycle for the C7.
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
Well it was in the Camaro ZL1 since MY2017. But maybe. Corvette transaxles are packaged uniquely.
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
There was a ZR1 article where they said it didn't fit in the Corvette. There was something along the lines of: The Corvette chassis is good, but not as good as the Camaro, and certainly not good enough for a 10 speed auto. The Corvette chassis was never designed to handle a real transmission. Just the sad old 8 speed that golfers like. If you want a car from GM that was designed for optimum performance, you want the Camaro ZL1 1LE. If you want to look pretty playing golf with the seniors, there is a vette with a weak 8 speed out there for you somewhere. Hopefully it doesn't break that weak little chassis in half on the way to the early bird special.
Re: Streetspeed717 races Demon?
That was all in the article?
