We talked at lunch yesterday. Bill is trying to avoid going to the DMV. So if Ed was amenable to some kind of rental deal that paid all the actual costs, that could work. I don't know about the clutch situation - I really do not foresee anyone replacing a clutch so someone can learn stick. Unless it actually fails. I think you could find any running/driving manual trans car on Craigslist that would perform the function for $1000 or something if the clutch in the Saturn is truly about to fail. And have to go to the DMV.....oh.
