DRLs on a 98 Corolla

Post by kevm14 »

Jim's car. He would like to be able to disable his DRLs for...a reason. Moving on.

That car has fuses and relays for every possible thing. There's a headlight relay, a high beam relay and a DRL relay. There is a DRL fuse, and a fuse for each lamp filiment (two low beam and two high beam). Pulling the e-brake does not disable the DRLs.

Pull the DRL fuse or relay does not disable the DRLs. If you keep the fuse or relay pulled AND switch the headlights on, they go off (but keep the parking lights on)! But you lose high beams for some unknown reason.

I need a schematic to really understand this further.

Snip pin 23 on the DRL Relay Connector and install a switch to make/break this conection. See:

This is what I did on my CTS-V: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/disdrl.html

When possible, I do prefer to modify a replacable module rather than the car's wiring harness. But since we are talking about wiring in a switch, perhaps it is acceptable.
