This commenter has a good point on this, I think:
At least GM is trying to fix all their problems, my buddy got a recall for his 07 Saturn because the power steering might spring a leak. It's a seven year old vehicle, that is pretty much normal wear and tear for something like that. To me if GM is willing to recall 7 year old vehicles for things like that it really does show that they have changed their cooperate culture. I mean, Ford had a problem with their 5.4 engines in the 98-01 F-150s and Excursions ware the spark plug might come out of the block. They even acknowledged it was a potential problem but they didn't do any kind of recall. They were just like "what do you want with an engine that has 100K miles on it?". I think the other thing that GM is worried about is frivolous lawsuits after those people that couldn't seem to figure out to drive their Toyotas got ridiculous sums of money for it.
