These are all street cars and were probably driven to the Speedway.
Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags
Re: Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags
I'm hooked on these Spectator Drag videos since I started watching them on YouTube last night. I've also found some good ones from tracks in Maine.

Re: Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags
I haven't watched the crashes yet. But I should point out that the stakes seem pretty high to me. First, I suspect the only safety is a helmet. Not sure if they even wear a HANS device. Second, I doubt any vehicle damage is insurable unless they bought some kind of race-specific policy (which may or may not exist). And I guess third, they probably drive these to the track and expect to drive them home...
These, plus the random match ups (the 1 lap on a short circle track is also much more interesting than a simple drag race) make these obviously good entertainment.
Vehicle highlights include:
- What I suspect was an LS turbo 2nd gen Camaro
- A V8 swapped Jeep Cherokee
- Like half the competition was some form of F-body
- An AWD launch goes a long way toward winning as passing is difficult
And a general comment on the action:
- The short track and very short straights mean that launch and grip are probably more important than sheer power to weight

Re: Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags
Due to all of the risks, I think this would have been a perfect event for the Caprice as it neared end of life. The snap combined with decent steady state cornering would probably make it a solid mid-pack competitor.

If you wanted to absolutely dominate one of these events and piss off a lot of people in the process, it would be fun to bring a Model S P100D.
