I thought you meant I should price shop. I didn’t realize you were implying fcp’s catalog would definitively identify which brake package I have.

You do NOT have U29.

Maybe U29 is AMG brakes on a 550. The big brakes are 390mm according to FCP Euro.

The standard front rotors do appear to be 550 specific so I was half right (that the 550 is upgraded).

These are probably a good choice:

Actually RockAuto carries it for less (as usual but no lifetime warranty).
https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/bremb ... rotor,1896

$75 for a ~14.75" Brembo. Imagine that.

For pads you may consider OEM. I wouldn't just pick a random brand from RockAuto. I'd be tempted to try a Hawk HPS 5.0.

Pad choices include: https://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results ... toModClar=

They have some interesting options including HPS 5.0 that might be worth researching. Although I don't know that you want a noisy, dusty "towing" pad or whatever. They do also carry the same rotors but they are even more expensive than FCP Euro.

Ah shit they don't seem to list the front pads in HPS 5.0. I hate that.

Actually they don't have the same Hawk front/rear pad availability in anything but the lame-sounding Hawk Performance Ceramic.

They DO have the HPS in front and HPS 5.0 in rear. Obviously this bothers me. The HPS is also a good pad.

I bought the Brembo rotor/ceramic pad kit since it was like $15 or something less than a-la-carte. I feel better asking for warranty rotor replacement if I use the rotor manufacturers recommended pad. Hopefully it's OK.

That's probably not a bad choice.

Any exotic tools or brake fluid needed? I usually drain calipers as I retract and do a pseudo flush. Is there anything weird about commanding parking brake service position on the rears?

I believe you can put the rear into service position through the cluster menus.

Study the front calipers before you turn random bolts. I feel like there were at least two styles of Mercedes Brembo calipers. Actually you have to pull the caliper off for rotors anyway. Still you may be able to use the quick change pad feature and not try to use it like a floating caliper pad change.

I would flush with DOT 4. Maybe a Pentosin from RockAuto. Previous research has indicated that the wet/dry boiling point specs are better than the typical parts store Valvoline or Prestone DOT 4. Brake fluid is a 2 year cycle.

Caliper bolt torque will be very high and technically you may be required to change the bolts. Probably at least look up the torque spec front and rear. Oh, is that my job?

I'm sure any DOT4 is OK for my driving habits/application. Let me know PNs if I'm supposed to buy bolts - lookups everywhere seem to be dumb

Looks like a decent how-to including instructions to enter service mode on a GLS 63:

It definitely needs 2 tires. I can't figure out what's different among listings other than price, and tread depth?:

Walmart - $272 each from Priority Tire:

shows manufacturer PN 3540130000 and 9/32 tread depth

SimpleTire - $340 ea:
