Apparently I made it a little complicated by submitting the online form, but looks like I do now have tires ordered and an appointment Friday to have them installed. The internet pricing included mounting and balancing - it's not clear if that's just "free" if I buy there or "built-in".
The parts counter guy (Matt) said they were $392 a tire and that he believed I would still be eligible for a $200 rebate on 4. I'm guessing that doesn't include mounting and balancing...
He confirmed that I should now have them on order and be ready for Friday no matter what. He said they stock the CrossContact UHPs, just not the DSW06's...
2017 GLS550 142k Service
Re: 2017 GLS550 142k Service
So far a somewhat confusing dealer experience. I've been here for 45 min (I showed up 1:15 early for my appointment, so I had no expectation they would help me or get started, but I thought I might be able to drop off, confirm services and prices, and really "move on" with my day and get on my computer to work). The service advisor (Jeff) was unable to confirm the price quickly and has now told me he'll come see me when he has it written up. I then went to the part counter to complete an in-person order for my replacement key since they would not order until I presented a registration and ID in person.
After about 15 minutes at the parts counter they confirmed that they have the FOB in-stock and can program it today, and I would need only wait for the cut key element to get shipped and I can pick that up separately later, with no service required at that time.
We (parts guy (Mark? and I) then went back to Jeff to give him the FOB. He confirmed they would be able to complete the key programming today. I then reiterated that I need a final price before I confirm they should install the tires, and he confirmed he would show me one, but it would take him a few, and I should wait in the waiting area.
So here I am, still having no idea what the total will be (I think the parts guy gave me like $50 off the last verbal quote I had on the key, and I bought 3 oil drain plug copper washers). I don't know if it'll be the internet quote pasted above, the parts-guy $390 something or somewhere inbetween.
The alignment is also supposedly $189.99-$25 based on both the internet quote and a link they sent me yesterday to confirm my appointment...

Re: 2017 GLS550 142k Service
Finally got confirmation on the pricing that matches the online post above. $189.99 alignment + 1 hr labor ($189 also) for key programming. Kinda weird that there's no "paper" or solid work order that I'm authorizing, just verbals from Jeff.
He had not heard of the $200 rebate card and had to specially call the rebate program admin's to ask them if this purchase was eligible and what the process was. Finally came back with the rebate form and told me that I need to mail it in.
It says I can apply at offers-center.com/mer with code 2024-132 by Feb 15 2025.

Re: 2017 GLS550 142k Service
I realized a few minutes later that he had verbally said "just" the tires were $2050ish. When I realized that may not have included the alignment I went back over to his desk and asked him, and he said it did not. He then had to "refigure" to match the $2077 I was quoted earlier in the week. He came back with $2050 for the tires and alignment, which is weirdly not the same as the $2077, but I'll take it I guess. Feels relatively used-car-dealer-ish vibes to have to renegotiate the pricing 3 times and pricing being somewhat of a secret.
Sheesh.
With $615 at the parts counter so far, $189 for key programming, and $2050, today is rapidly approaching $3k.

I just thought maybe the $2050ish includes the $25 off alignment coupon.

Applied for the rebate.
Re: 2017 GLS550 142k Service
I put in three separate parts orders yesterday because I guess I kept thinking of things so I will be headed there when they are all fulfilled.
Re: 2017 GLS550 142k Service
All 3 orders are ready for pickup. My default plan is always Sat morning but there are occasions where I am able to run up there during the work week.
