The Top Don TopScan Lite did not want to talk but I did buy a $150 scan tool from Harbor Freight that did.

I'm guessing some plug somewhere needs to be fiddled with. Or the air bag itself went bad. Great.

The code says open but my DVM says the squib is shorted.

Before I checked the resistance I did clean out the connector which looks fine. Although the cross brace is rusty.

Other internet tricks are to connect a ~2 ohm resistor to fake the module out.

Decided to try disabling the pass airbag with the key in the dash. Amazingly, this got the airbag light out. I would have expected it to still check for the squib but evidently not.

Then I called Tire Pros and they confirmed that if the dash light isn't on, it's a pass. They don't care if the airbag is manually off. So that's my backup plan if I can't restore it to proper function easily.

Bought one on eBay for $105. Worth a try. Else, I can just disable the pass airbag using the switch in the dash.

Finally received it. Swapped my air vents over because they were in nicer shape. Actually the whole cover was cleaner and less faded but that part didn't really seem that swappable (maybe to prevent swapping the cover on an otherwise deployed airbag).

Bolted in, plugged in, seems good. Yay.
