Wound up with an engine oil leak from somewhere near the bellhousing. Cleaning it up and looking with a light I think it's the oil cooler/filter adapter on the drivers side of the engine. Ordered a seal kit for it. Also had a very minor weep from the transfer case rear driveshaft seal, so I ordered one of those too. Transmission spin-on filter is rusted so I also ordered a replacement (I then found the AC Delco filter I had already ordered and received earlier to replace it, so I guess I now have a spare that I'll stock?).
Since I had the truck on the lift and I'm waiting for parts, I decided to install the fuel pressure regulator I've had on the shelf for 6 months or more to finally hopefully get rid of the intermittent check engine light. That was a pain. I had changed out the three very, very hard to access T-25 torx screws with regular hex, stainless socket head cap screws when I did the regulator the last time. I apparently did not buy a Bosch regulator when I did it 10 or 12 years ago.
During the fuel pressure regulator swap I must've had the belt slightly off one of the pulleys. On startup there was a belt-tearing noise, and about 20% of the width of the belt ripped off and shredded. I've now ordered a new belt, tensioner, and two idler pulleys since none of them look/feel great both bearing and belt surface-wise (kinda crusty/rusty). Seems like it just doesn't end. Total this week is "only" about $200.

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Looks like I last did the tensioner in 2010 and never did the idlers, unless I bought them from somewhere other than RockAuto which is unlikely. Sheesh, nothing lasts
. The 2010 one was lifetime warrantied, but since it hasn't failed I guess I shouldn't make them swap it out...

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Looks like I managed to order the wrong front bumper from RockAuto. $185 or so wasted, return shipping is $300+ so it's not worth sending back. I of course didn't pull it out of the package or compare until after I removed the rusted one from the truck... Kinda dumb on my part both ways
I have now ordered the only correct one (with airflow holes, diesel specific I guess) I could find on the internet (GM discontinued, most aftermarket shops seem to have discontinued) from Jegs, shows that they think it'll ship by the end of May. $251+$170 shipping. $447 after tax. I could've gotten a no-holes model from RockAuto or others for about $320 or so, but I figured I'd pony-up for the air flow if it's actually available.

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Between my order and now, Jegs shows the part as discontinued. I wonder if they somehow have one left somewhere and they'll honor my order, or if I'll get a we're-out-of-stock message tomorrow and have to get a bumper that doesn't have the air holes...
Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Did you scour eBay?
Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
I did. One dented unit that is my best lead.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/326071410363?_ ... p_homepage
I also checked car-part and they show no listings. Only some kinda-weird 1/2 ton cross listings that I think don't have the air holes.
Jeg's cancelled my order but didn't tell me that they cancelled it (or show anything other than pending as the status on their website each time I've checked including right now. So I've been waiting for nothing.
I called Hicksville Auto Recyclers (Hicksville OH) to see if they have one. They said they'll check and call me back.

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Looks like it should and is the discontinued GM part number. Guess I'm just really bad at ebay listings (or stopped at lower $'s?). It's "only" about $100 more than the Jeg's listing that's now defunct.
Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
Summit seems to have the same listing as the ebay ad for $40 more overall ($593.17 w/ shipping and tax).
They show only one left in stock...

Re: 2001 GMC K2500 General Maintenance
I ordered the ebay one. I was worried since Summit showed 1 left it might be the same listing/warehouse so I figured I'd order. Hopefully this one goes through.
