2010 Tundra: oil change

Post by kevm14 »

Drain plug torque is 30 lb-ft and does use a felt gasket. It was missing and wasn't leaking. Got a new one from the dealer.

Oil filter housing torque is 18 lb-ft
Oil filter housing drain plug is 9 lb-ft

FSM says oil change with filter change is 7.4 quarts but it is for 2009 and after oil change seems low (without filter is 7 quarts)
Total dry capacity is 8.9 quarts.

I went with 8 qts for now. Valvoline R&P 5W-30. 218k.

Had to run out for the Toyota oil filter housing wrench. And I swapped back to the stock plastic one from the metal Dorman he had.

Did the oil change with the truck on the ground.
